The kids

"Teacher, what's your name teacher?", first greet from a plum boy who was playing puzzle.

Here begins my journey for the past 2 weeks with the kids, ohh to be exact 8 days.

I was away from work to join the community programme in one of the foster home. I still remember clearly on my first day, I felt that all the names are too long for me. That was a school holidays for them. A few volunteers from France came for dancing session with the kids, back to thatday I am totally a stranger to the kids. I saw the volunteers brought so many funs to the kids, compared to tbe dull textbooks and classroom studies. For once, I hope one day I can be like them.

Gets to know the kids ain't easy. A total 18 of them during the school holidays, children barely can focus and get distracted easily. This boy told me, "Teacher, everything is zero in this world. Your eyes are round, face and the questions, teacher." Oh well, kid, I hope this does not discourage you to study,  whisperred in my heart. He is quiet but smart. On my first day, I am busy with kids, splitting myself around with primary school kids and passed by the secondary school kids, just once. Looking at the Sejarah paper, I guess the best motivation is to let them know this is my favourite subject although I only like it after I am able to handle it.

Second day, they left us in the afternoon to cinema wih the sponsor except 5 of them, stays with us due to misbehave. We initiated a game with them, yeah, children like games but we never defeat our purpose to make them learn. We have ended our day shortly, I remember the journey has began since the day.

Third day, tuition teacher came for the secondary students and elder one. The primary kids are with us, anyhow, they just cannot focus well. Math and English were going on by 3 of us that day for 2 hours. We are tired to make them focus and ended with the Science books. That evening was the first time they invited us for sports, we are not prepared and it rained.

Another long weekend till the school reopened, kids are being separated from morning and afternoon schooling session. We able to speak to everyone of them, guide them side by side with their homework. That day, we saw how they prepare for the school, having lunch, packing the snacks to school, waiting for the van driver. I miss my schooling days. We have spent our afternoon time well by searching our interesting materials. Evening, one of the elder one offered us to join their sports, too bad we are not with our sport shoes. I saw his disappointed face, he must be thinking we gave empty promises to him since last week. Well, we just do not expect they have sports during schooling days. What a nice one!

We brought our shoes the next, can't wait to join them in the field. It was a super windy and hot evening and it began our sweating session with them. I saw tolerance, patience and talented kids. Although they are not well equiped, they show their passion. We have joined them thrice, everyone just reluctant to go back but we are tired, seriously, playing with kids ain't that easy too but we enjoyed a lot!

Here comes the last day, I knew all of them. I have some of their stories, which is hiding from the faces. Throughout the days, I have tried my best to dig the secondary school notes I have for them. I could have help a lot if these notes are not recycled. Personally feel that some of them work hard, just that realisation for the imporatance is late yet I think they still have time.

They are courtesy, kind and playful. I sincerely hope that they will take  responsible to their futures. We have done what we can do, do it differently and wrapped it up perfectly. I saw brothers love, loyal friendships, playing funs and a lot more. I know they deserve better, probably this has to come from their own initiatives. Thank you for bringing me lots of patiences, funs and sharing! I know, one day each lf you will come accross realisations and appreciations, hope they are not too late.

That was how your brother grown and changed, will see you success soon! :)

Thank you teacher.
